Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) January 30, 2012

Samsill is excited to unveil the 2012 Fashion Color Collection. The four new colors are affectionately named Flamingo, Plum, Aqua and Kermit. These colors were chosen based on PANTONES color predictions for 2012 presented by Color Expert Leatrice Eiseman and the purchasing trends within the college market. Samsill is one of the largest binder suppliers to colleges, providing college bookstores with unique designs and the largest variety of colors on the market for over 30 years. These new lively fashion colors speak to the optimistic college students who are looking for energy and fun. While the economy dictates choices like never before these college students make no excuses when having fun and expressing their personalities.

?Color is important; it persuades moves, inspires and informs us all, it can?t be ignored and yet most people don?t consider the impact. I am fascinated by trending fashion colors that spring down from the runways and hit not only your closet but your school supplies. I?m thrilled with the Samsill 2012 Fashion Color Collection and look forward to flooding the market with fun inspiring color.? Drew Bowers, Director of Marketing

Pantone Palettes that inspired our color choices are:

Back to Fuchsia

These colors are bold, daring and audacious; this group is tantalizing colors that make no excuses for the attention it creates. These colors celebrate energy generated though provocative melding of dancing reds, purples and pinks that easily integrate oranges. Jewel-toned greens both accentuate and complement the hotter hues.

Nouveau Neon

These neon colors are not the phosphorescent neons of yesterday, they are instead a collection of exuberant shades that bring a fresh new perspective to combinations. Asian-inspired yellow-green place with Popsicle orange and berry purples while citrus colors toy with pink and raspberry.

The Comics

This effervescent palette pops of the page in a whimsical way that brings a smile and creates a need to take time to play. Quirky joy and spontaneity are key.

Flamingo = PMS 709C

Plum = PMS 2592 PC

Aqua = PMS 320C

Kermit = PMS 360C

Clark Freeport, Philippines (PRWEB) January 23, 2012

True Green Energy Group announced today that it has successfully tested the material recycling facility, shedder and pelletizing machine. TGEG system will reduce landfill waste while generating green energy. The process of turning garbage into electricity is done in several stages. First, waste materials that are combustible, such as paper, plastic, food, wood, and agricultural materials, are dried and shredded. Metal and glass can?t be turned into energy, and will be kept and recycled. However the device will still work if these materials are mingled into the garbage as the TGEG MRF system separates all hard metals. Next, the shredded trash is turned into fuel pellets similar to those burned in wood pellet stoves. But unlike stoves and municipal systems, the TGEG system does not burn the pellets. Instead, it uses a special gasification process that uses high temperatures to decompose the pellets in a controlled process.

This TGEG system is based on a technology developed in the 19th century. TGEG 21st century advancements have improved the energy conversion and profitability of the pellet. While about 5% of the pelletized material ends up as ash, the rest is converted into a synthetic gas (mostly hydrogen and carbon monoxide) that is similar to natural gas, but with a lower energy content. The resulting gas is burned in a highly efficient micro turbine to generate electricity. Many businesses and municipalities already see the benefits to the environment of ?converting and diverting? trash into clean energy, solving two pressing ecological problems at the same time. The Philippines produces an abundance of trash and requires an endless stream of energy.

Biomass pellets are generally a superior fuel when compared to their raw feedstock. Not only are the pellets more energy dense, they are also easier to handle and use in automated feed systems. These advantages, when combined with the sustainable and ecologically sound properties of the fuel, make it very attractive for use. The standard shape of a TGEG fuel pellet is cylindrical, with a diameter of 6 to 8 millimeters and a length of no more than 38 millimeters. Most common pellets currently on the market) must have an ash content of less than 1 percent, whereas ?standard? pellets may have as much as 2 percent ash. All pellets should have chloride levels of less than 300 parts per million and no more than 0.5 percent of fines (dust). Many biomass feed stocks have higher ash content than the standard allows. In addition, some grasses and other materials generate ash that tends to form clumps and deposits at high temperatures.

The process of manufacturing fuel pellets involves placing ground biomass under high pressure and forcing it through a round opening called a ?die.? When exposed to the appropriate conditions, the biomass ?fuses? together, forming a solid mass. This process is known as ?extrusion.? Some biomass (primarily wood) naturally forms high-quality fuel pellets, while other types of biomass may need additives to serve as a ?binder? that holds the pellet together.

However, the creation of the pellets is only a small step in the overall process of manufacturing fuel pellets. These steps involve feedstock grinding, moisture control, extrusion, cooling, and packaging. Each step must be carried out with care if the final product is to be of acceptable quality.

The pellet is actually created in this step. A roller is used to compress the biomass against a heated metal plate called a ?die.? The die includes several small holes drilled through it, which allow the biomass to be squeezed through under high temperature and pressure conditions. If the conditions are right, the biomass particles will fuse into a solid mass, thus turning into a pellet. A blade is typically used to slice the pellet to a predefined length as it exits the die. Some biomass tends to fuse together better than other biomass.

The proper combination of input material properties and pelleting equipment operation may minimize or eliminate this problem. It is also possible to add a ?binder? material like TGEG is doing with its biomass to help it stick together.

Pellets, as they leave the die, are quite hot (~150?C) and fairly soft. Therefore, they must be cooled and dried before they are ready for use. This is usually achieved by blowing air through the pellets as they sit in a metal bin. The final moisture content of the pellets should be no higher than 8 percent.

Pellets are typically sold in 18-kilogram bags, which can be easily filled using an overhead hopper and conveyor belt arrangement. The TGEG bags will be clearly labeled with the type of pellet, their grade (i.e., premium or standard), and their heat content. 1 ton of biomass pellets made by True Green Energy Group will cost approximately $ 165. The landfill site in San Fernando is estimated to pelletize between 300 to1000 tons per day.

True Bio Electric who has contracts with TGEG to mine below ground garbage and will be placing additional pelletizing equipment on the landfill to increase the production and overall profits to the city of San Fernando and its Pioneer shareholders. TBE is involved in the production of bio flakes from waste, which fuel TGEG Bio Green systems.

TBE delivers a long-term technology providing a renewable resource that lasts and leaves a legacy for a cleaner and greener future. It is True Bio Electrics mission to discover, develop, and provide healthier, more efficient and environmentally friendly answers. TBE clients as well as their shareholders are concerned about leaving a better world for future generations and creating cleaner electricity products and pelletizing is an excellent way to do so. At present there is a great opportunity for consumers and shareholders to influence their choice and go with green investments. Going green with clean green electric power is what TBE is all about and what True Green Energy Group lives by.

TGEG (True Green Energy Group) is a company founded by Ronald Shane Flynn that promotes world power and green technologies. Ronald Flynn the chairman of the board and founder said, ?The waste problem has been a long burden in the Philippines, which ruined the livelihood and lives of many Filipinos. According to the DENR, 6,700 tons of garbage is being generated in the NCR (National Capital Region) alone every day, only 10% is being recycled and the remaining 90% goes straight to dumpsites, rivers and streets, which affects the environment and the public health?.

TGEG aims for sustainable development by providing the needs of the current world populations without compromising the future generations. The solutions and technologies allow communities to enhance their sustainability level by turning their waste streams into reusable and valuable resources.

True Green Energy Group strategy is to “de-carbonize” the electric power generation industry by shifting to non-fossil fuel-based energy sources, specifically energy-from-waste. This follows the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Renewable Energy Law (RA 9513) of the Philippines that confirms energy-from-waste is renewable, and to build low cost housing for Pilipino families.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

Two-thirds of budget directors at U.S. colleges and universities give their Excel-driven budgeting process a ?C? grade or lower. A survey released today by XLerant, Inc., was conducted exclusively for higher education and had equal participation from small, medium and large colleges and universities and community colleges.

The grade comes while mounting economic pressures make effective university budgeting and planning more critical than ever, all year long, at all levels of leadership.

Results show 71% of respondents report increasing administrative scrutiny of the budget process. Eighty-one percent cite complaints such as poor mechanics that leave little time for analysis, and spreadsheets that are complex, inflexible, and prone to human error.

?University budgeting is so perplexing that only a few people on campus can truly ?own? their numbers and manage accordingly,? XLerant Founder Lawrence Serven said. ?We were all so enamored with Excel when it came out, that we stopped there. Yet, a spreadsheet today is like a slide rule. With today?s economic demands, a college can?t afford to manage essential financial processes with a slide rule.?

Survey participants included community colleges, and small, medium and large colleges and universities. The Survey participants’ budget directors said criticism of the budget process comes from all levels: department heads are frustrated by rigid, unrealistic templates, while administrators say the process takes too long and results do not tie to institutional strategy.

?XLerant energizes a culture of budget accountability. We understand the link between participation in the process and ownership of the numbers. We make it simple for leaders to prepare meaningful budgets,? said Joanne Brunn, Vice President of Client Services.

Tough Times Make Budgeting Mission Critical

?Decreases in higher ed funding and skyrocketing benefit costs make budgeting and planning mission-critical,? Serven said. Yet, because Excel is not a database, numbers must be managed manually, and budget intelligence functions are nearly impossible to create. Plus, all but the basic functions are difficult for many users.

Howard Buxbaum, vice president for finance and business affairs at New Jersey?s Drew University, said Excel?s limitations thwarted efforts to gain spending control during the worst recession since the Great Depression. Drew?s budget lived in 3-inch binders. Finance staff keyed in most departmental numbers, at times in response to sticky notes left on their doors. Supporting documentation lacked, salary planning was cumbersome, budget templates were daunting, and seasonal spending variances were ignored.

?I wondered why no one did for budgeting what TurboTax did for tax preparation ? make it an easy-to use, self-service process with plain-English selections and prompts,? Buxbaum said. ?Then, I found XLerant. When our president asked if we really needed this, I said, ?We damn well need it. We do a poor job of budgeting.?

?Now, our budget holders take responsibility for their budget input and their results.?

Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) December 09, 2011

Asphalt Systems, Inc. (ASI) recently submitted its asphalt preservation product, GSB-88? emulsion, to a rigorous and complete Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The assessment was conducted in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) guidelines and qualifications, which examines manufacturing activities, procurement of raw materials, performance of the product, excess waste disposal, and recyclability to determine whether a product is truly green. With high scores in every category, GSB-88? received the ultimate reward: an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). No other competing asphalt preservation product has ever been submitted to this intense and comprehensive process.

Jay Walters, ASI?s CEO, commented: ?We knew that GSB-88? had a significant, positive impact on the environment because it can often double the life of roads, runways, and parking lots, thus reducing the need to replace the asphalt as often. With this LCA and EPD, we now have proof that the composition of the product itself is environmentally ?Green.? ?

Instead of casually calling a product ?Green?, this academically rigorous, internationally accepted evaluation process includes all three phases of a product life cycle assessment. The three phases include the environmental impact measured by eight evaluation criteria being applied to 1) each component part of a product, 2) the actual use of the product, and 3) the eventual recycling or disposal of a product. ASI believes that if GSB-88? is utilized to help preserve existing asphalt, on a global level, it could save up to 1.2 million metric tons of CO? equivalent per year and billions of dollars.

The categories used by IERE to evaluate GSB-88? were:

-Climate change ????????????????

-Acidification

-Eutrophication ????????????????

-Human and ecotoxicity

-Photochemical smog????????

-Fossil fuel depletion

-Mineral resource depletion????

-Water use

View LCA data

A team of independent parties and industry experts, led by the Institute for Environmental Research & Education (IERE), worked together to create the Product Category Rule (PCR) for this product class. The PCR was then reviewed by a team led by an LCA certified professional. It is the first PCR listed in the National Product Category Rule Repository for pavement preservation, and is now available for all other companies to utilize in assessing the environmental and life cycle impacts of their pavement preservation products. It can be found at ASI News

Dr. Rita Schenck, IERE Executive Director, is delighted with the outcome. ?For years we have believed that business needs to drive environmentalism. This partnership with ASI is a perfect example of business taking the lead to prove the impacts of their product, and challenging their industry to step up and follow suit. Everyone wins in this scenario – the environment, industry and the economy.?

The United States has almost 2 million miles of asphalt ? enough to circle the earth 80 times. The U.S. also continues to produce approximately 550 million tons of asphalt each year to construct new roads, and to replace and repair existing roads. These numbers illustrate the enormous impact asphalt has on the environment.

Both ASI and IERE encourage other pavement preservation product companies to develop their own Environmental Product Declarations, based on the Product Category Rule developed by IERE and a team of independent parties. ASI is confident that GSB-88? will continue to be the world?s gold standard when choosing an environmentally and economically superior pavement preservation product.

The full reports can be found at http://www.asphaltsystemsinc.com and http://www.iere.org

In addition to the environmental assessment, the US Navy Facilities Command recently concluded a four-year study of the performance of GSB-88?, which proved that the product significantly increased the useful life of asphalt pavements and could potentially save the Department of Defense hundreds of millions of dollars in costs. The conclusions from these studies validate the assertion that GSB-88? saves money and helps to preserve the environment. It is now the only product that can prove these two assertions through LCA and EPD documentation.

GSB-88? is a triple-win for the environment and businesses because it:

1) Saves the environment – Not repaving as often reduces asphalt manufacturing and use. Using GSB-88? could save up to 100,000 miles of roads per year in the United States.

2) Saves resources – Product application takes less time, uses less petroleum and other resources, and requires less equipment & fuel.

3) Saves money – Is applied less frequently, and gets up to a 400% Return On Investment for taxpayers.

For decades, ASI has recognized the necessity for its products to be responsive to the environment and to provide economic benefit through high performance results. GSB-88? is a unique gilsonite-based, emulsified sealer-binder formulation that seals and binds asphalt pavements by reintroducing the oils and resins that have been lost through oxidation and normal use of the asphalt. It is a non-carcinogenic, non-toxic, water-based formulation that employs no coal tars.

Asphalt Systems, Inc. (ASI) has been manufacturing gilsonite-based products for over 40 years. They are dedicated to producing the best in asphalt preservation products, and offering unmatched services and assistance to the asphalt preservation industry. They can be reached at 1-801-972-2757.
The Institute for Environmental Research & Education (IERE) is a Washington State-based nonprofit. Their mission is to undertake and disseminate comprehensive, fact-based research for use in the development of responsible environmental policy, programs and decisions. They can be reached at 253-208-9702. Or, visit their website at http://www.iere.org.
